Effective Altruism Society

Effective Altruism is a philosophical movement that advocates "using evidence and reason to figure out how to benefit others as much as possible, and taking action on that basis" - Will MacAskill.

It involves both reducing suffering in the most effective way today and doing as much as possible to reduce future suffering. Consequently, the society will not only focus on effective solutions to humanity's current problems but also on the risks that humanity may face in the near or far future.

We aim to be a society centred around discussion and debate, with interests in existential risk, rationalism, ethics, animal welfare, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, epistemology etc.
